Therapy
Cap Exceptions to Expire on June 30th
Under the legislation
that created it, the Medicare B Therapy Cap Exceptions Process will
expire on Monday, June 30th. Several bills had been on the table
to extend it, but Congress failed to pass them before adjourning
for their 10-day Independence Day recess. Therefore, Therapy Cap
Exceptions will indeed expire next Monday. This
means that Med B claims billed with the KX modifier for services
performed after June 30th in excess of therapy limits will be rejected. For
details, please visit the CMS website at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/MLNMattersArticles/downloads/SE0815.pdf.
The
Senate will resume discussions regarding Medicare when they return
to session on July 7th. AAHSA is encouraging all providers to contact
your senators and urge them to support Medicare legislation that
includes extending the therapy cap exceptions process. You can do
this quickly and easily by visiting the AAHSA website at http://capwiz.com/aahsa/issues/alert/?alertid=11541071&PROCESS=Take+Action.

New
Features in Version 3.5
The latest version
of QuickCare, Version 3.5, has been released and includes the following
new features:
-
Global
Orders Wizard - A link to Global Orders is provided from
various forms in QuickCare. When you see a Global Orders link,
click it to access this form. Otherwise, you can access it from
Facility > Processes > Add Global Orders.
To
add a global order, click Add. The Add Global Orders wizard opens
with the Orders tab selected.
The Add
Global Orders wizard contains four tabs that provide access
to all screens of the wizard. When you click Add on the initial
screen, you enter edit mode and the Order screen appears. You
are not required to use all screens, but you must enter the
minimum required information (one order and at least one resident).
You can
access these screens in sequence using the Next buttons, or
you can click the tabs to jump to a specific screen.
-
Order
- On the Order tab you can select a single order. You can
find orders by category or by searching the order database.
-
Detail
- On the Detail tab you can add to the order description
and change the order category. You can set the order begin
and end dates, ordered by, and NDC code. Order instructions
and Care Givers can be added as well.
-
Frequency
- On the Frequency tab you can select the order frequency,
add additional text, select a custom schedule, and select
time to administer the order.
-
Residents
- On the Residents tab you can select one or more residents
for the Global Order, and you can add it to all active residents,
residents by physician, or by floor, hall, and room.
-
Enhanced
Admit/Discharge - Quickcare version 3.5 now includes options
to display therapeutic leaves and hospital leaves on the report.
To use this new feature, follow these simple steps:
-
From the clinical or A/R reports screen, go into the Clinical
Census category on the left.
-
Run
the Admit/Discharge report on the right. Choose the report
start and end date, and select the criteria you want to
be included in the report.
-
Cash
Receipt Adjustment Security - User security is now available
for the 'Adjust' feature in the cash distribution screen. With
QuickCARE Version 3.5, there is a new process found under Enterprise,
Menu, Security and Groups to Roles. The individuals responsible
for the facility's security will need to select this new process,
called Cash Receipt Adjustments, for Groups with the appropriate
Access Level of View Only, Edit, Add and Edit or Add, Edit and
Delete. If the Group has not been selected for access to the
Cash Receipt Adjustments process, the user will see the Adjust
button grayed out.

"Train
the Trainer" Courses A Success
Our
QuickCare staff has just completed another successful "Train the
Trainer" program with 14 participants from 8 different client organizations.
The purpose of this program is to transform our advanced QuickCare
users into an elite training group. For our clients, having a QuickCare
Certified Trainer (QCT) on staff reduces training costs, increases
the knowledge level of all users in the organization, and ultimately
minimizes the impact of staff turnover.
Stay
tuned for information about our next "Train the Trainer"
sessions.
