Have you downloaded the most current version of ULTRACare?
We post a fresh ULTRACare update on the third Friday of each month for you to download from our secure web site. If you have not already done so, please download the update and install per the instructions provided on the site to ensure you have all the latest features. The current version of ULTRACare is 15.3. We highly recommend that you install monthly updates on a timely basis as they may contain important regulatory changes pertaining to claims filing, given the current transition many payers are going through.

2008 ICD9 Codes Update
Our regular monthly ULTRACare update, to be available on September 21, will contain the updates to the ICD9 codes file for ULTRACare. Instructions will be included with the release notes at that time. This feature is included with your SPSA and can easily be updated within ULTRACare with one menu option. Please note that a new ICD9 codes book is not included, but we do recommend purchasing one for your medical records staff to have on hand.

ULTRACare Training Database
Do you have new staff on board? Doing some internal training? Need to "test" some new situations for billing? All of these are good reasons to have your ULTRACare training database set up correctly.
We highly recommend every customer has a training database ready for use, and we'll provide you with one at no additional charge.

Not sure if you already have one? It's easy to find out. In ULTRACare, click on the red house icon at the top left of the menu bar. Browse to see if there is a "Training" company set up. If you need assistance, please contact our ULTRACare Customer Support staff via email at support@monetteis.com or call us at (800) 666-3883.

NPI Registry Goes Live
CMS announced that the NPI Registry would be operational on September 4, 2007. UserIDs and passwords are not needed and there is no charge to use the NPI Registry. Simply log on to https://nppes.cms.hhs.gov/NPPES/NPIRegistryHome.do.

The NPI Registry enables users to query the NPPES using certain criteria, such as the NPI or the name of the provider. The NPI Registry will return the results of the query, or search, and allow the user to select the desired record(s). The FOIA-disclosable data for that provider will then be displayed.

For complete information about the NPI Registry, please visit the CMS website at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/NationalProvIdentStand/06a_DataDissemination.asp.

CMS Switches to Broadband for MDS Submissions
Beginning in July 2007, CMS began a state-by-state transition to broadband internet service for MDS submissions and reports. Nursing facilities that want to continue submitting MDSs and accessing reports using dial-up modems will have to request a waiver. The conversion schedule, the broadband installation requirements and instructions, the waiver request form, and other pertinent details are available at http://www.qtso.com/mdcn.html.
